Was the day before Christmas and all through the swamp
The creatures were stirring, their feathers they flaunt
Great Blue Heron on his nest, showing his best display
Hoping his mate will like what he's built and decide to stay
Manatees coming back to the Spring
Feeling that air turning cold, crisp and clean
Out in the swamp the Gators will bask
Along with the Turtles as the last sun rays pass
With a tail wind behind us the current we ride
Back to the take out with a wave goodbye
Tomorrow is Christmas, a day to revere
Our memories of God's creatures we'll keep near and dear!
A Christmas paddling poem by Kenny Boyd ;-)
