Laura's Manatee encounter October 24, 2013

Our good friend Laura and Kenny took off up the St Johns River today to see what they could find. The first cool snap of the year brought out the Great and Snowy Egrets, Anhingas and Cormorants too. A few Red-bellied and River Cooter Turtles were out sunning and the Little Blue Herons out fishing. In the springs there was a young adult Manatee hanging around, maybe the first of the great migration ;-) and in Snake Creek the Alligator Flag is in full force. The Butterfly Orchids are still hanging around and the Air Plants are in bloom. It was a great day to be on the river and to celebrate Laura's first journey...Kenny said she's now a pro so we hope for many more.
