The Anhinga was the bird of the day on the Dora Canal
this morning. We must have seen 2 dozen of them. The Great Blue, Little Blue,
Tri-colored Herons, Snowy Egrets and Great Egrets all made a showing and the
bright yellow Prothonotary Warbler was out and about. The Button Bush is in
full bloom and there are tons of Apple Snail Eggs being laid. That and the Eel
Grass growing on the river’s edge are both signs of a healthy waterway. We could
hear a pair of Limpkins sounding off from their new nesting site and we got to
have the canal all to ourselves. It was a great morning to be playing outside!
