Celebrating Nancy's birthday kayaking on the Wekiva River
Today we celebrated Nancy’s birthday on the Wekiva River. Gliding under the Spanish Moss and numerous Air Plants we set off for a big adventure. First thing 3 Sandhill Cranes gave us a low fly-by and the Little Blue Heron was the bird of the day. We must have seen 12 different ones. Great Blue Herons and Green Herons, Great Egrets, Anhingas, Pied-billed Grebes, Moorhens, Red-shouldered Hawks, Ospreys and Bald Eagles were just some of the flying wonders we encountered. There were many sunning Red-bellied and Yellow River Cooter Turtles out and a few Alligators too. It was a beautiful 80 degree, sunny Florida day and being on the river is always a great way to celebrate!
